The Great Western Trail extends from the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles, about 50 miles west of the Chicago loop, to the village of Sycamore in DeKalb County. It's a multi-use trail, with a smooth riding surface of limestone screenings. It's popular with bicyclists without the feeling of being crowded.
