The McDowell Grove Forest Preserve Trail is an unmarked 8-foot wide, multi-use trail which follows the West Branch DuPage River. It consists of 2 series of loops connected by McDowell Road within the preserve. The surface is mostly mowed turf in the prairie and packed dirt in wooded areas with some crushed limestone along Mud Lake. Much of the preserve is located in floodplain, with resulting path washouts at times.Setting: Wooded, Prairie, Wetlands
