The Neal Smith Trail (Saylorville Trail), previously known as the Saylorville-Des Moines River Trail, follows the Des Moines River from the Birdland marina in Des Moines to Big Creek Beach. The trail offers a variety of scenic vistas, including the Des Moines River Valley, Saylorville Lake, Big Creek Lake, prairies, ponds and forests.
