Trail Notes: The Wabash Trace Nature Trail is located in southwest Iowa, is built on an abandoned railbed and runs from Council Bluffs to Blanchard at the Missouri State line. The trail is frequently lined with trees that form beautiful tunnels. At the southern end of the trail, there are areas of prairie grasses which served as food for the herds of buffalo and deer that once roamed there. Equestrian use is permitted on a parallel trail on the northern five miles only.Setting: Wooded, Open Spaces, Prairie
